​Even the most skilled online marketers sometimes have campaigns that don't bring the desired results. But you can help safeguard your next campaign doesn't come undone by evading these possibly costly online marketing mistakes.
  1. No clear campaign goals. One of the greatest mistakes online marketers make is not having analytics goals before starting a campaign. In order to follow the success of an online marketing campaign, it's imperative to define goals, including sales, calls, emails, etc. and make sure that analytics tracking is correctly set up for these goals

  1. Not targeting the proper audience. Even if a brand is making great content, they will miss a good deal of the opportunity if they make the extra effort to promote it to the proper audience at the appropriate time. Every online marketing and online business are growing and it takes some extra effort to get your content/business noticed.

  1. Not having a customer-centric mindset. Marketing plays a vital role in enticing and retaining customers, and organizations slow to accept a customer-centric way of operating will be left in the dust.

  1. Impersonal/incorrect personalization. Whether it's the wrong name, gender, etc., the list goes on. This can easily be averted by using insights technology, which makes it simple for online marketers to accurately identify the correct products and offers to engage consumers for their next purchase.

  1. Ignoring mobile. Mobile is becoming the dominant digital platform consumers use, so it is crucial to have your mobile strategy in place.

  1. Not doing A/B or split testing. Use A/B testing to make the most of your email. For example, issue the same email to a test group, but use two altered subject lines. When sending the actual email to potential customers, use the subject line that performed the best.

  1. Don't be anti-social on social media. Many marketers seem not to remember that social media is meant to be a space for dialogue and engagement, rather than just broadcast. Answering your community and questions will help you build a relationship that will positively impact business over time.

  1. Buying social media followers. It often seems like the goal of the game is to have lots of followers and fans on your social media accounts. However, people are becoming more knowledgeable about social media. They can now tell if you've bought fake followers.  Instead, look to create a network of real people who are likely to become possible customers.

  1. Hiring a third-party to represent your brand on social media. The most frequent excuse for outsourcing social media management is a lack of internal resources and proficiency with social platforms. Nobody knows your brand better than your employees. Let them oversee and spreading the good word about your business.
